Cpl Jerry Lartey - Wins WBA African Super Lightweight Bout 2025

The Ghana Army Boxing Team recorded a remarkable victory at the 2025 World Boxing Association (WBA) African Super Lightweight Division bout, held at the Legon Sports Stadium on Saturday 20 December 2025. Lance Corporal Jerry Lartey of the 1 Signal Regiment represented the Ghana Army in the highly competitive bout against Jesseh Brandon of the United Kingdom. The contest, which was promoted by Legacy Rise, lasted eight intense rounds and showcased exceptional skills, endurance, and discipline from both boxers. At the end of the bout, all three judges unanimously scored in favour of Lance Corporal Lartey, securing a well-deserved victory for the Ghana Army and further enhancing the Armed Forces' reputation in international sports competition. The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including the President of the Republic of Ghana and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, HE John Dramani Mahama, and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon Kofi Adams. The victory highlights the Ghana Army’s continued commitment to excellence, discipline, and sports development, reinforcing its presence both on and off the battlefield.
