PROFILE OF COMMANDING OFFICER


Major Kwadwo Octhere-Prempeh enlisted into the Ghana Military Academy in 2009 where he graduated as a member of Regular Career Course Intake 49 and was posted to the Armoured Recconnaissance Regiment on commission as a Second Lieutenant. Kumasi

Maj Octhere-Prempeh attended Kumasi High School after which he acquired the following educational qualifications: Diploma in Military Studies from the Ghana Military Academy, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Public Administration), University of Ghana, and Diploma in Tactical Intelligence from the United States Army Intelligence Center of Excellence. He undertook his Passed Junior Staff Course (pjsc) from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji – Nigeria, Passed Senior Staff Course (psc) from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Teshie – Ghana and has a Master of Science in Defence and International Politics (Msc. DIP) from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Teshie – Ghana.

Major Octhere-Prempeh has also done the following military/professional courses: Young Officers Course at the Army Combat Training School, Teshie (2013), Young Officers Armour Course at the Armour Corps Centre and School, Ahmednagar – India (Jan – Jun 2014), Junior Command and Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji – Nigeria (Jul – Dec 2020), Combat Team Commanders Course at the Army Combat Training School, Teshie (Jan – May 2021), Analytical All Source Course (Basic and Advance) at the Defence Intelligence Training Cnetre, Burma Camp – Accra (Nov 2021 & Feb 2022), Advanced Network Analysis and Targeting Course at the Defence Intelligence Training Centre, Burma Camp – Accra (Aug 2021). He has also done Combating Terrorism Mobile Education Team Course at the Defence Intelligence Training Centre, Burma Camp – Accra (Jun 2021), Intelligence Support for Peacekeeping Operation Course at the Defence Intelligence Training Centre, Burma Camp – Accra (Aug 2021), International Officer Tactical Intelligence Course at the United States Army Intelligence Centre of Excellence, Fort Huachuca - Arizona (Apr-May 2022), and Senior Command and Staff Course at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Teshie – Accra (Sep 2022 – Aug 2023) .

He has held many appointments in the course of his career. These include Troop leader, Armoured Recconnaisance Regiment in Accra (2009-2010) and 2 Indep Reconnaisance Squadron in Sunyani (2011-2012); Admin Officer and Squadron Second-in-Command 2 Independent Reconnaissance Squadron (2012-2015); Officer Commanding, 2 Independent Reconnaissance Squadron (2017 - 2019); Aide-de-Camp to the Chief of Staff, General Headquarters (Feb 2019 –Feb 2020) and later to the Chief of the Army Staff (Feb 2020 – Jul 2020). He also held appointments as Assistant Director, Intelligence Training at the Directorate of Army Intelligence and Plans (Dec 2020 – Feb 2022), General Staff Officer Grade Two, Intelligence and Training at the Army Intelligence Branch (Feb 2022 – Jun 2022), Acting General Staff Officer Grade One, Intelligence Training at the Army Intelligence Branch (Jun 2022 – Aug 2023) and Secon-in-Command, 154 Armoured Regiment (Aug 2023 – Till Date).

Maj Octhere-Prempeh has vast peacekeeping experience having served in United Nations Peacekeeping missions such as United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, Feb 2010 – Apr 2011, United Nations Multidimensional Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jan 2012 – Mar 2013 and United Nations Mission in South Sudan, Jan 2016 – Apr 2017.

In Ghana, Maj Octhere-Prempeh has participated the following internal operations: Operation GONGONG in Northern Region of Ghana, between 2011 and 2014; Operation CONQUERED FIST in Upper East Region of Ghana, between 2017 and 2018 and Operation KOUDALGOU in Upper East and Northern Region of Ghana, May and Nov 2018 respectively.

He is married with a son. His hobbies include playing soccer and listening to music.
