PROFILE OF COMMANDING OFFICER


Lt Col Michael Mintah-Agyemang was commissioned as part of Regular Career Course Intake 45 in 2005 and posted to the ABF – Tamale as Pl Comd in 2005.

He is from Kyebi in Eastern Region and attended Teshie Lincoln International School, Mount Carmel High School in New Delhi. He attained BA (Hons) in Political Science from Moti Lal Nehu College (Delhi University in 2001).

Lt Col Mintah-Agyemang has attended all mandatory military career courses commensurate with his rank. He has done O/CDT at MATS (GMA) from 02 Oct 03 to 01 Sep 05, Jnr Staff Cse at GAFCSC from 18 Jul 14 to 14 Nov 14, CTCC at ACTS from 09 Jan 15 to 08 May 15 and Snr Staff Cse at GAFCSC from Sep 15 to Aug 16.

He has held several appointments within the Ghana Armed Forces including Pl Comd, Detachment Comd Bawku and Wa, Instructor at ARTS, A/CO at HQ North Comd, ADMP at GHQ (PA), Dep COO at C/Comd. He was appointed first Commanding Officer of the newly established 11 Mechanized Battalion at Bawku in the Upper East Region.

Lt Col M Mintah-Agyemang has served on several United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. He has served with UNMIL in Liberia, UNIFIL in Lebanon, UNOCI in Cote D’Ivoire, MONUSCO in Cong and UNMIS in Syria.

He is married with four (4) children. His hobbies are exercising, watching sports, watching movies and reading.

Brief History of 11 Mechanised Battalion

11 Mech Bn Located In Bazua Was Established On 18 June 2020 Based On Promulgation Dated October 2014 To Take Over Operations Responsibilities Of The Upper East Region From 69 Airborne Force As Part Of Northern Command. The Changing Trends In Military Operation, Especially Within Regional Boundaries Coupled With Advances In Technology, International Commitments And Military Support For The Socio-Economic Development Of The Nation Makes It Imperative To Establish The Battalion To Be Responsible For Military Operations In Upper East Region.

In Peacekeeping, He Has Served As Humanitarian Officer, United Nations Assistance Mission In Rwanda (June-December 1994), Military Observer, United Nations Aouzou Strip Observer Group In Libya/Chad (March – May 1994), G4 Transport And Plans, United Nations Mission For The Referendum In Western Sahara – 1993 And Detachment Second-In-Command/Troop Leader, United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon/Israel (1987, 1989, 1992)
