Ghana Army Commences Maiden Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Intelligence Course

Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Intelligence) at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Samuel Stanley Mezo, officially opened the inaugural Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Intelligence Course 1-2025 at the 5 Infantry Battalion's lecture hall in Burma Camp.

Brigadier General Mezo explained that the three-week course is designed to enhance personnel's competence in advanced intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination. He emphasized that the course aims to reshape participants' mindset to view intelligence not as a routine task but as a critical tool for achieving mission success and preventing conflict.

Addressing the 45 participants drawn from various units of the Ghana Army, Brigadier General Mezo congratulated them on their selection and urged them to work hard and demonstrate professionalism, as they are the future frontline intelligence practitioners.

He noted that this maiden course will prepare them to assume leadership roles as Senior Advisors, Team Leaders, and mission planners, positions that demand patience, integrity, curiosity, critical thinking, and discretion to refine their intelligence skills.

The knowledge gained will also position them for greater responsibilities within the service and beyond.

Brigadier General Mezo highlighted the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu’s keen interest in troop training, urging the participants to embrace this opportunity with open minds, determination, and dedication to excel in the course.

He further stated that the most potent weapon in today’s battlefield is not always a gun but the mind, the ability to predict, prevent, and prepare and that is precisely what this course is about.

Furthermore, he expressed his appreciation to the course facilitators for their dedication and professionalism. He emphasized that their mentorship is crucial and urged them to provide strong guidance, as the future of intelligence capabilities depends on their development.
