The 2 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), in collaboration with sister security services, has undertaken a Regional Security Services Route March on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, in Takoradi.
The route march formed part of GAF’s simultaneous nationwide route marches conducted across all Garrisons in conjunction with sister security services. The exercise aimed at reaffirming the collective commitment, preparedness, and resolve of the security services to ensure peace, security, and public safety in the Western Region and the country at large.
Delivering the opening address prior to the commencement of the march at the forecourt of the Takoradi Mall, the 2 Garrison Commander and Base Commander of Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, welcomed personnel from the various security agencies.
He charged participants to exhibit exemplary conduct as they marched through the principal streets of Takoradi, urging them to carry themselves with the weight of responsibility and the honour that accompanies their calling.
“The route march is a powerful message of reassurance to the public we serve. Every step we take through the principal streets of this city reaffirms our unwavering commitment to ensuring public safety, especially during the festive season and beyond,” Air Commodore Yirenkyi stated.
In his closing remarks, the 2 Garrison Commander expressed profound pride in and appreciation for the personnel following the successful completion of the route march.
He noted that the exercise represented more than physical endurance or coordinated movement, describing it as a living demonstration of the security services’ pledge of loyalty and duty to the region and its people.
Air Commodore Yirenkyi further emphasized that the commitment of the security services does not end with the route march, stressing that their promise to the citizens remains non-negotiable. He added that the exercise had further reignited their resolve to protect the region with renewed vigour.
The Deputy Western Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ayamga Y Akologo, in his remarks after the march, congratulated all personnel for the successful exercise and encouraged them to maintain high morale while continuing to ensure peace and order in the region.
