2BN Holds Induction Religious Parade for LT COL ENN Osae

The Commanding Officer (CO) 2 Infantry Battalion (2BN) has been inducted into office as the new CO of the unit on Friday 15 November 2024, at Calvary Methodist Presbyterian Church, Myohaung Barracks, Takoradi.

The ceremony under the theme “Leading with Purpose” was to commit the new CO to God and ask for protection, wisdom, and guidance for him as he commences the enormous task of ensuring peace and stability in Ghana’s Western and Western North regions, after taking over command on Friday 27 September 2024.

The Acting Director General Religious Affairs (A/ DGRA) of the Ghana Armed Forces, Rev Col Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode led the CO to affirm the oath of office, after which he was dedicated to God and availed to the congregation.

The Western Regional Coordinating Director, Mr Fredrick Agyemang in a remark on behalf of the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, referred to the Region as a strategic hub hosting critical national assets, hence the need for effective collaboration between the regional Security Council and the security services in the region to maintain peace and stability.

He expressed confidence in Lt Col Osae’s leadership, to maintain lasting peace and security in the two regions, while providing adequate protection to valuable national assets in collaboration with sister security services and urged him to be a pillar of strength to provide the security framework to enable the region to thrive.

For his part, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command, Brig Gen Samuel Yeboah Asare urged the CO to discharge his duties diligently and effectively to help maintain the peace in the region before, during and after the general elections.

GOC entreated Lt Col Osae not to hesitate to call on him at any time for advice whenever he meets a challenge in the execution of his tasks and urged Officers, soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff of the unit to rally behind the Commanding Officer to succeed for the greater good of mother Ghana.

He further advised personnel to remain apolitical and continue to exhibit professionalism in their service to their unit and the state.

Also present to grace the occasion were the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Commodore Emmanuel Ayesu Kwafo, Flag Officer Commanding Naval Logistics Command, Commodore Eric Osei, Flag Officer Fleet, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, Base Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukre Atiemo, Senior Officers at the General Headquarters, representatives from sister security services, Chiefs and some distinguished guests.
