The 79th Remembrance Day Parade has been observed at the Veterans Administration Ghana's Regional Cenotaph in Tamale, on Monday 11 November, 2024 with a solemn wreath laying and flag raising ceremony.
The ceremony was graced by the Northern Regional Minister, Honourable Alhassan Shani Shaibu. It was marked with the sounding of the siren to signify the signing of the armistice, and the observation of a two-minute silence to honour the memory of all departed veterans.
The parade contingents were drawn from the 6 Infantry Battalion, 69 Airborne Force, Air Force Base Tamale, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service and a contingent of veterans.
As part of the ceremony, wreaths were laid in memory of all men and women in uniform, who died during World Wars I and II and other conflicts around the world.
In attendance were the Commandant, Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Major General Richard Addo Gyane, 6 Garrison Commander, Air Commodore Joshua Mensah-Larkai, General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, Commander Air Force Training Command, Air Commodore Mathias Awuah, Members of the Northern Regional Security Council, Traditional rulers from Tamale, Northern Regional Chairman of the Veteran Administration Ghana, EX WOI Adama Ganda Issaka, representatives from the various sister Security Services and members of the Veteran Administration Ghana.
