Brigadier General Agbebo Assumes Command as GOC Northen Command

The Headquarters Northern Command has held a Handing/Taking over Parade to usher in Brigadier General Frank Worlanyo Agbebo as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command. The Ceremony which was held on Friday 13 June 2025 at the Forecourt of the Command Headquarters in Tamale comprised the commissioning of the Command’s mineral water factory, block making factory and an ultra-modern barbering salon.

Delivering his farewell address, the outgoing GOC and the Commander 15 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei expressed his profound appreciation to the Military High Command for reposing confidence in him and granting him the honour to lead the Command.

Reflecting on his tenure, Brigadier General Tei noted that he assumed command amidst heightened tensions related to chieftaincy disputes within the Northern Command’s Area of Operational Responsibility. He stated that, through close collaboration with the various Sister Security Services, the Command was able to overcome these challenges, leading to a successful 2024 General Elections in Bawku.

He acknowledged that, despite constraints in logistics and manpower, intensified operational efforts, inter-agency coordination, and the dedication of troops ensured the maintenance of peace and security in the five Northern Regions. He affirmed that the Command, under his leadership, had fulfilled all operational tasks and responsibilities assigned to him.

Brigadier General Tei highlighted significant developmental projects undertaken during his tenure which included the ongoing construction of Eagle Nest, a befitting residential accommodation for GOCs, the production of Eagle Drop mineral water, the establishment of a block making factory and the construction of an ultra-modern barbering shop to enhance the welfare and boost the morale of personnel.

In the area of healthcare, he lauded the partnership with the Bank of Ghana, which facilitated the establishment of a Blood Bank and the refurbishment of a Pediatric Ward at the 6 Medical Reception Station (6 MRS).

The Guest of Honour for the ceremony, Base Commander Air Force Base Tamale, Air Commodore Adu Gyamfi, in his address, commended the outgoing GOC for his exceptional leadership. He noted that despite the brevity of Brigadier General Tei’s tenure, his achievements far outweighed normal expectations.

He lauded his foresight, strategic planning, and inter-agency cooperation in ensuring stability during the 2024 general election in Bawku. He further expressed full confidence in the incoming GOC, assuring him of the unwavering support of all stakeholders as he steers the Command toward greater accomplishments.

The parade was graced by very Senior Military Officers, Staff Officers of Northern Command and Air Force Base Tamale, Heads of the various Security Services in Tamale, Soldiers, Traditional Rulers, Friends and Families of Northern Command.
