Coas Visits Army Officers’ Mess

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu accompanied by Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters, paid a working visit to the Army Officers’ Mess in Accra on Thursday, 24 July 2025.

During the visit, the delegation received a detailed briefing from the Mess Secretary, Captain Nii Lami-Ayi Komey, on the current state of the mess.

The presentation covered a general overview, security situation, administrative matters, recent renovations, structural challenges, residents’ concerns, and recommendations.

Capt Komey further emphasized that the mess remains vital to officer welfare and military tradition. He expressed confidence that with support from High Command in the form of additional staff, repairs, and accommodation policies, the mess could significantly improve.

In his remarks, the COAS commended the mess committee members for their dedication in maintaining and managing its activities.

He assured them of command’s support for a temporary facelift and promised further discussions aimed at a more extensive development plan.

As part of the visit, the COAS and his entourage toured facilities of the mess and inspected an unfinished accommodation block.
