The Director Mission Support (DMS) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, (UNIFIL) Ms Melva Crouch, on Monday 16 June 2025 commissioned a state-of-the-art multipurpose complex for the Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) serving with UNIFIL, marking a significant milestone for the Unit.
The complex is designed to provide a range of facilities and services for the Battalion. It comprises a conference hall, Tactical Operation Center and offices. The commissioning of the complex is a testament to GHANBATT's dedication to providing excellence and professionally discharging their duties.
The DMS, commended the Commanding Officer, Lt Col Issac Kobe Boako for his exemplary leadership and vision to put up the edifice.
The Commanding Officer expressed fulfilment in the new facility, stating that the multipurpose complex was to replace the already existing structure which was an 18-year-old prefab unit that exposed troops to danger during the period of the cross-border escalation between Israel and Hezbollah.
The commissioning of the multipurpose complex is a significant achievement for GHANBATT, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the unit's operations.
