ESSMGB GHANCOY 3 And 4 Hold Transfer of Authority Ceremony

The ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea Bissau (ESSMGB) witnessed a Transfer of Authority ceremony on Friday 1 August 2025 at the Ghana Company (GHANCOY) Camp in Guinea Bissau.

During the ceremony, the Combat Team Commander of GHANCOY 3, Lt Col Gabriel Mawuli Agboado handed over GHANCOY’s mandate to Lt Col Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah, the Combat Team Commander of GHANCOY 4.

The ceremony was preceded by a change of guard parade and inspection of Quarter Guard by the outgoing Combat Team Commander.

In his farewell address shortly after handing over the baton of office, Lt Col Gabriel Mawuli Agboado wished GHANCOY 4 well in their tour of duty. He acknowledged other contingents whose cooperation contributed to the success of his tour. He further commended his troops for their sacrifice, dedication, hard work and discipline.

 

Ghana’s Ambassador to Guinea Bissau, HE Maxwell Awiagah, who was the Guest of Honour for the ceremony, paid tribute to the Ghana Armed Forces for its record of excellence in Peace Support Operations globally.

The Ambassador recalled the significant contributions of previous GHANCOYs to the stability and economic development of Guinea Bissau. He commended the Combat Team Commander, Officers and Soldiers of GHANCOY 3 for making Ghana proud through their tireless efforts at achieving the ECOWAS mandate.

 In his concluding remarks, He urged personnel of GHANCOY 4 to work harder in order to exceed the high standard set by GHANCOY 3 while keeping the flags of the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana flying high.
