The Ghana Company 4 (GHANCOY 4), serving with the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea Bissau (ESSMGB), observed Ghana’s 69th Independence Day anniversary with a Cultural Exhibition on Friday 6 March 2026.
The exhibition aimed to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and promote Ghana as a strategic, peaceful destination in West Africa for tourism and investment. Items displayed at the Exhibition included traditional costumes, musical instruments, food, and artifacts of Ghanaian origin.
During a presentation, the Combat Team Commander, Lt Col Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah, gave a comprehensive brief on Ghana's political history, culture, tourism, economy, sports, and religion, with an emphasis on religious peaceful coexistence. He concluded by urging the international audience to visit and experience Ghana’s rich hospitality.
The Force Commander, Brig Gen Edward Odinya Ojabo, reiterated that Ghana has been a role model for regional integration, political stability, and peaceful coexistence, which are all essential for the development and growth of the West African sub-region. He also praised GHANCOY 4 for displaying high levels of discipline and professionalism over the period.
The Resident Representative of The President of the ECOWAS Commission (RRPC) in Guinea Bissau, HE Ambassador Ukaije Ngozi, acknowledged the significant political and socioeconomic progress made by Ghana since independence. She extended her best wishes to Ghana and all Ghanaians for their future endeavours.
The exhibition was attended by the Head of the Ghanaian Consulate in Guinea Bissau, Mr. Soale Abdul-Razak, members of the diplomatic corps, ambassadors and representatives of various embassies in Guinea Bissau, staff officers of the Force Headquarters, and members of the Ghanaian community in Guinea Bissau.
