A European Union ( EU) delegation led by Lieutenant Colonel Ansgar Glatzel, Defence Attache , paid a visit to the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu at the Army Headquarters on Tuesday 22 July 2025.
The purpose of the visit was to introduce themselves to the COAS and to strengthen the ties between Ghana and the European Union.
The Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu welcomed and expressed his profound gratitude for meeting them for the first time. He also thanked them for their partnership received so far in terms of equipment and capacity building.
The COAS further acknowledged their support for the establishment of engineer regiments in the middle belt and northern sector.
In response, the Defence Attache applauded the GAF for their hard work and stated that, in the last 2 years they have been supporting the Ghana Armed Forces with Armored Vehicles, Drones, radio and other communication equipment as well as training troops on drones and radios.
He assured of their continued support to the Ghana Armed Forces to enhance operational effectiveness.
Also present at the meeting were the Chief Staff Officer at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Lloyd Atror, 14 Engineer Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Richard Agbeko Kinney and Chief G4, Colonel James Kofi Amenya.
