The Ghana Army School of Ammunition and Explosives (GASAE) has held a graduation ceremony for trainees of the Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) Basic and Assistant Course 2–25 at Michel Camp on Friday, 01 August 2025.
The six-week intensive programme was conducted in partnership with the United Kingdom Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Short-Term Training Team (STTT). The course focused on equipping personnel with essential skills in IEDD techniques to strengthen the Ghana Armed Forces’ operational readiness and counter-IED capabilities.
The Acting Commander of GASAE, Lieutenant Colonel Issah Tahiru, commended the graduands for their resilience and focus. He added that successfully completing the course is a testament to their mental toughness and resolve to operate under extreme conditions. He encouraged the trainees to apply their newly acquired knowledge responsibly within their units and uphold the high standards of the institution.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the British Support Team, a representative from STTT, Warrant Officer Class II Paul Hartin expressed satisfaction with the performance and professionalism demonstrated by the trainees. He stated that the last six weeks have been impressive, marking the beginning of a continuous journey of learning, adaptation, and service.
WOII Hartin also praised the long standing collaboration between the Ghana Armed Forces and the UK STTT, describing it as a model of effective military partnership. He acknowledged the dedication of both the trainees and their instructors, commending GASAE for its commitment to excellence.
Certificates were presented to all graduating participants. Special recognition was given to three students for outstanding performance. Best in Academics was Private Anane Jonathan, Best in Practicals, Private Jayem Jonah, and the Overall Best Student went to Private Abekah Evans Kofi
