GOC Southern Command Commissions Parsonage for 1 Garrison SDA Church

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command, Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, has officially commissioned a newly constructed parsonage for the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Chaplain at 1 Garrison, Michel Camp. The ceremony, held on Thursday, 26 June 2025, marked a significant milestone in the Ghana Armed Forces' (GAF) ongoing commitment to supporting the spiritual welfare of its personnel and their families. Speaking on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff, Brig Gen Paintsil described the commissioning as a testament to the GAF’s dedication to fostering the moral and spiritual development of the military community. He noted that the new residence reflects the Army’s recognition of the essential role chaplains play in providing comfort, guidance, and spiritual care across all ranks. He commended the Director Army Religious Affairs for his leadership and expressed appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion of the project within the stipulated timeframe. He also acknowledged the generous support of church members, donors, and volunteers who played vital roles throughout the construction process. Brig Gen Paintsil encouraged continued support for the chaplaincy, describing the parsonage as a beacon of hope, peace, and compassion. He further noted that the residence will empower chaplains to serve with love and dedication, and will also function as a spiritual hub for both service personnel and their families.

He extended a heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed—whether through financial support, physical labour, or prayer—and urged the congregation to maintain their spirit of unity and generosity in future endeavours.
