The Headquarters Northern Command has marked a successful completion of Basic Non-Commissioned Tactical Course 1/2024. The ceremony which took place on Friday, 8 November 2024, at Headquarters Northern Command, crowned what commenced on Friday 19 July 2024 with a total of 55 young soldiers drawn from 6 Infantry Battalion, 10 Mechanised Battalion, 11 Mechanised Battalion, 155 Armour Regiment and 69 Airborne Force. The 16-week course was designed to train troops as non-commissioned officers to effectively command and control. Students engaged in a comprehensive training package which included disaster management, internal security, counter-insurgency, and counter-terrorism, as well as two weeks of orientation at the Jungle Warfare School in Achiase.Addressing the students, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei, noted that the course was a vital step in shaping the military skills of young soldiers in line with the Chief of the Army Staff's vision. The GOC further reminded them that their training prepared them not only for warfare but also to uphold the trust citizens place in them. Brig Gen Tei emphasized the need to remain vigilant, steadfast, and committed to maintaining peace and stability, especially in light of looming terrorist threats along the northern frontiers.He urged them to use the knowledge and skills acquired to benefit both themselves and the Ghana Armed Forces while striving to gain more knowledge for personal growth.The Course Commander, Major Steven Ampaateng Adoctar in his welcome remarks, expressed his gratitude to the GOC for giving them the opportunity to run the course and for his unwavering support. He congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the course and urged them to give out their best as they depart to their various Units since the training has enhanced their physical fitness and developed their combat skills and mind set.
