Northern Command Holds Religious Service In Honour of Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei

The Northern Command of the Ghana Army has held a Religious Service in honour of the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei.

The Service which was held on Sunday 8 June 2025, at the Church of Pentecost Barwah Barracks Worship Center, Tamale was under the theme “Great is Thy Faithfulness”. It drew a cross-section of military personnel, families, clergy and civilian guests who gathered to express gratitude to God for Brig Gen Tei’s impactful leadership and devoted service during his tenure.

Delivering a homily on Qur’an 18:107–110, the 6 Garrison Imam, Imam Rahim Yamusah, reminded the congregation that true reward from God is reserved for those who believe and do righteous deeds. He explained that the passage underscores the importance of sincere worship and humility before the Creator, noting that all greatness belongs to Allah. The Garrison Chaplain, Reverend Father Captain Dominic Prince Yeboah, spoke on the significance of the theme, noting that Brig Gen Tei had accomplished a great deal during his tenure by the grace and faithfulness of God. He emphasized that thanksgiving is an acknowledgment of God's enduring greatness, benevolence and divine protection over His people. “Indeed,” he stated, “it is fitting to give thanks when we see the clear hand of God guiding our leaders and institutions”. Speaking at the service, the outgoing GOC described the theme as “timely and deeply personal”, reflecting the unchanging character of God, “who remains faithful in all things”. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the spiritual warmth and support he received from personnel and the various churches in the Barracks. Highlighting his commitment to the spiritual wellbeing of the troops, Brig Gen Tei shared that, the establishment of a non-denominational church at the Headquarters Northern Command was aimed at nurturing the faith and unity of the personnel across all backgrounds. He urged all to seek the face of God, trust in Him and He will direct their path. He encouraged all to remain steadfast and uphold righteousness in all aspect of life and abide by the tenets of selflessness and dedication which are essential to their spiritual growth. 

The service was attended by notable figures including the outgoing Command Operations Officer, Col Frank Gyabi-Abrokwah, Incoming Command Operations Officer, Col John Kwarteng, Outgoing Commanding Officer (CO) 69 Air Borne Force, Col Louis Boakye, CO 93 Signal Regiment Lt Col Benjamin Adjei, CO 6 Infantry Battalion Lt Col Jerry Ankuyi, Deputy Command Logistics Officer Lt Col Ofori Anson Jnr, Acting CO Camp, HQ Northern Command Lt Col Samuel Incoom, Officers, Soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff, Families and Friends of the 6 Garrison.
