Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Intelligence) at Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Samuel Stanley Mezo, has officially declared the commencement of the Pre-Junior Staff Course Cadre for Army Officers nominated for the Junior Staff Course (JSC) 84 on Monday, 14 July 2025, at the Defence Mechanical Transport Battalion Auditorium in Burma Camp.

Addressing the 45 participants drawn from various units of the Ghana Army, Brig Gen Mezo explained that the two-week cadre is designed to broaden the officers’ understanding of service writing and operational staff work, enabling them to function efficiently.

He emphasized that the cadre is a valuable opportunity to prepare them for the upcoming JSC 84 at Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), encouraging them to emulate the outstanding performances of their predecessors.

Brig Gen Mezo highlighted that since its introduction, the cadre has received positive feedback and serves as the first major staff course for many officers. He further stressed the importance of taking the course seriously, as it forms the foundation for the Senior Staff Course, and urged participants to make good use of all available resources to excel.

Brig Gen Mezo noted that the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu is keenly interested in the success of this cadre and its objectives must be upheld. He also expressed gratitude to the training session facilitators and the Directing Staff for their commitment and dedication in supporting the cadre.
