1 Infantry Battalion Holds Send-Off Reception for Retired Personnel

The 1 Infantry Battalion (1 BN) organized a colourful send-off reception on Friday, 2 January 2026, at Michel Camp to honour nine Warrant Officers completing their dedicated service to Ghana.

The ceremony united serving personnel, families, and well-wishers in celebrating the retirees' selfless contributions, professionalism, and sacrifice that strengthened the Battalion and the Ghana Armed Forces.

Commanding Officer 1 BN, Lt Col Frank Adams, delivered heartfelt remarks commending the Warrant Officers for their decades of unblemished service, often spanning 25 to 30 years of disciplined leadership and national duty.

He described retirement as a new phase and not as an end, reminding them that they remain on the Army Reserve List and always welcome to Michel Camp as their enduring home.

Lt Col Adams urged the retirees to embrace this transition with gratitude rather than sorrow, thanking God for granting them the privilege of reaching this milestone safely while inspiring younger soldiers through their exemplary legacy.

In response, the Warrant Officers expressed profound gratitude for the honour and pledged ongoing support to the Unit and the Ghana Armed Forces in various capacities as they transition to civilian life.

The retirees received citations and souvenirs in recognition of their distinguished careers marked by resilience, expertise, and exemplary conduct.
