The 7 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces has held its end-of-year religious parade and carol service on Sunday, 21 December 2025, at the St Ignatius Catholic Church in Volta Barracks, Ho, in the Volta Region. The service was held under the auspices of the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, who also serves as the Garrison Commander, Commodore James Adongo Agambire.Delivering the homily, the Imam of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Imam Abubakar Yusif, urged the congregation to value the gift of life bestowed upon them by Allah. He observed that while many enjoy the freedom to move about freely, others in hospitals, prisons, and cemeteries do not share such privileges, echoing the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed.
He encouraged personnel to cherish life, extend kindness to others, and live purposefully, emphasizing that life is a sacred trust from Allah and that how it is lived truly matters.
Preaching from Matthew 8:5–11, the Garrison Chaplain, Major Andrew Owusu-Ansah (Reverend Father), spoke on the theme of humility. He highlighted the faith of the Roman centurion, who considered himself unworthy for Jesus to enter his home yet believed that a single word from Him could bring healing.
Major Owusu-Ansah commended the centurion’s remarkable faith, noting that it surpassed that of many in Israel, and underscored the inclusivity of God’s Kingdom for all nations. He encouraged the congregation to reflect on their personal faith journeys, step out boldly in faith like the centurion, and recognize Christ’s authority in their lives, irrespective of rank or position. In his address, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon.
James Gunu, who was the Guest of Honour for the event, expressed appreciation to the personnel of the Garrison for their unwavering commitment to national defence, peacekeeping, and other security operations.
He acknowledged that these duties often come with significant personal sacrifices and stressed that their dedication serves as a protective shield that enables communities to live in peace. He further urged personnel to carry the spirit of unity and togetherness demonstrated during the parade into their homes, barracks, communities, and the wider region as they approach the New Year.
The parade brought together personnel from various units within the Garrison, fostering camaraderie, strengthening esprit de corps, and reinforcing a shared sense of belonging among the troops.
