A delegation from the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire Staff College, led by Lieutenant Colonel Bahi Jean Martial, visited the Army Headquarters in Accra on Tuesday 10 February 2026 for a reconnaissance visit.Lieutenant Colonel Bahi Jean Martial explained that the visit formed part of preparatory activities ahead of a scheduled study tour by students of the Staff College in June 2026.
He noted that the study tour will focus on terrorism in the Sahel and the strategies being implemented by the Ghana Armed Forces to secure Ghana’s borders within the broader regional counter-terrorism framework.Welcoming the delegation, the Chief G7 Training at Army Headquarters, Colonel IB Mohammed, on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, expressed appreciation to the Staff College for selecting Ghana for the proposed study tour.
He highlighted the theme’s relevance, given the evolving security challenges confronting the subregion, and reaffirmed the Ghana Army’s commitment to sharing operational experiences and best practices to support the tour's academic objectives.
As part of the reconnaissance activities, Colonel K Obiri-Yeboah, Chief G5 Plans at Army Headquarters, delivered a presentation titled “Ghana Army in Perspective.” The presentation provided an overview of the Ghana Army’s historical evolution, current mandates and operational roles, and future priorities and strategic outlook.The reconnaissance visit is expected to inform the structure and content of the upcoming study tour while further strengthening professional and institutional ties between the Ghana Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire.
