Army Headquarters Bids Farewell to Outgoing Staff Officers

The Army Headquarters hosted a farewell reception on Friday, 9 May 2025, at the forecourt of the headquarters to honour its outgoing staff officers. The event recognized the Chief Staff Officer (CSO), Deputy Chief Staff Officers (DCSOs) and Branch Chiefs as they transition to new assignments, while also welcoming their successors.

 

In his remarks, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu expressed deep appreciation for the outgoing officers. He highlighted their instrumental role in ensuring a smooth leadership transition and thanked them for their unwavering support, which has helped him settle firmly into his new role.

He emphasized that the farewell was not a final goodbye but a reflection of the Army’s commitment to progress and continuity through change.

 

Maj Gen Gbetanu encouraged the departing officers to excel in their new roles, which are vital to the Ghana Armed Forces, and urged incoming officers to uphold and build upon the high standards set by their predecessors. He also extended congratulations to recently promoted officers, advising them to always prioritize the interests of the headquarters wherever they serve. He concluded by wishing the outgoing officers success in their new assignments and warmly welcoming the incoming officers.

 

Speaking on behalf of the departing officers, outgoing Chief Staff Officer (CSO) Brig Gen A Alobawone expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and the opportunity to serve. He thanked the Chief of the Army Staff and military high command for their trust and recent promotions, assuring them of continued dedication and commitment to duty.

Brig Gen Alobawone also formally announced the transition of responsibilities and expressed confidence in the leadership of his successor.

 

The ceremony underscored the Army’s core values of service, loyalty, and the enduring spirit which was marked by camaraderie, reflection on shared achievements, and a collective commitment to the ongoing mission of safeguarding the nation.
