Army Headquarters Shows Appreciation to Army Sports Team

The Chief Staff Officer (CSO) at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Lloyd Atror, has held an interaction session with the Ghana Army Sports Team at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday, 24 December 2025.The interaction was aimed at congratulating the team and expressing appreciation for the commitment, discipline, and dedication demonstrated throughout the 2025 sporting season.Welcoming the team on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, Brigadier General Atror commended the sports personnel and officials for their outstanding performances across various sporting disciplines. He praised their efforts in projecting the Ghana Army positively and encouraged them to sustain the momentum and continue to uphold the values of excellence and teamwork.The Head Coach for Volleyball, Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Ernest Asante, took the opportunity to highlight some challenges confronting the team. However, he indicated that despite these challenges, the Ghana Army Sports Team recorded remarkable achievements in 2025. The team won several trophies, including:

  • 2025 Volleyball Knockout Championship (Women)
  • Greater Accra Handball Association League Championship 2025 (Men)
  • Greater Accra Volleyball Association (GAVA) 2025 Nasco Challenge Cup (Women)
  • Champions of Champions 2025 (Men) – GAVA
  • League Champions 2025 (Men) – GAVA
  • Winners of the Super Volleyball Championship 2025 (Men)
  • World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Lightweight Championship

The interaction reaffirmed the Army Headquarters’ support for sports development as a key component of morale, fitness, and esprit de corps within the Ghana Army.
