Artillery Young Officers Course, Basic Artillery and Gunners Advance Course 1-2025 Hold Closing Ceremony

 The closing ceremony of the Artillery Young Officers Course, Basic Artillery and Gunners Advance Course 1-2025, was held at the Bundase Training Camp on Friday 17 October 2025.

The event marked the conclusion of months of rigorous professional training aimed at enhancing the tactical proficiency, leadership qualities and technical expertise of the participating young officers and Gunners. The successful completion of these courses reaffirmed the 16 Artillery Brigade’s commitment to developing competent and professional soldiers capable of meeting the evolving demands of modern warfare.

The 16 Artillery Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Selorm Kwesi Amengor in his remarks highlighted the significance of the Artillery Young Officers’ Course, which has been conducted for the first time in the history of the Brigade.

He also commended the graduating officers for their hard work, endurance and dedication throughout the course. He lauded the Commanding Officer of the Artillery Training School, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Atuiri and the instructors for their professionalism and commitment throughout the training.

The Guest of Honour Brigadier General Joshua Amanor, Commander Army Training Command reminded the students that their success as leaders will depend not only on their mastery of gunnery and tactics but also on their integrity, discipline and high sense of professionalism.

He urged them to lead by example, care for their troops and continue to pursue professional excellence in all assignments. Touching on the evolving nature of contemporary military operations, Brigadier General Amanor emphasized that Artillery remains a decisive factor on the battlefield. He called on the students to demonstrate precision, agility and sound judgement in employment of firepower in support of manoeuvre forces.

Awards were presented to students who distinguished themselves during the course. Captain Nanabanyin Kum was adjudged the best student on the Maiden Artillery Young Officers’ Course, Lieutenant Jacob Vanderpuye Awotwi was also first on the Gunner's Advance Course 1-2025 while Gunner Anning Rose was the best student on the Artillery Basic Course 1-2025.
