The Army Recruit Training School (ARTS) Medical Centre has organised a Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening exercise aimed at promoting early detection and encouraging healthy lifestyles among personnel and the surrounding community on Wednesday 22 October, 2025.
The event featured free breast screening sessions and educational talks on the importance of regular self-examinations, early diagnosis, and timely medical intervention for any unusual breast changes.
The Senior Physician Assistant at the ARTS Medical Centre, WOI Kennedy Kuadey, underscored the importance of routine breast checks. He advised individuals to conduct monthly self-examinations and promptly report any abnormalities to a health facility. He noted that continuous awareness creation helps demystify breast cancer, encourage openness, and promote early health-seeking behaviour.
Acting Ward Master, WOI Philip Djagbeletey, also stressed the need for healthy eating habits, self-examination, and regular medical check-ups.
He urged personnel to take proactive steps in safeguarding their health and called on all to join the collective fight against breast cancer.
He further emphasised that breast cancer affects both men and women, and as such, greater public awareness and support are crucial in combating the disease.
