CO UNIFIL GH 92 Stresses Professionalism and Security at Maiden Durbar

The Commanding Officer (CO) for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Ghanaian Battalion 92 (Ghanbatt 92), Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Evans Yaw Mensah Komedjah, held his first official durbar with personnel on Friday, 3 October 2025 at the Obeng Camp, UNP5-66, Al-Qawzah.Lt Col Komedjah explained that the gathering was designed to facilitate interaction with the troops following his assumption of command. The goal was to gain a direct understanding of the challenges they face and to collaboratively identify solutions.During a security briefing, the Battalion's Chief Operations Officer, Major Lodo Delali, stressed the critical need for troops to report all violations and activities accurately to the Tactical Operations Centre to ensure a prompt and effective response.The Commanding Officer urged all personnel to maintain the highest levels of professionalism. He reminded them that their deployment to Southern Lebanon was a direct result of the proven success and professional conduct of previous Ghanaian Battalions.

On the subject of operational security, Lt Col Komedjah advised against sharing any information that could compromise missions. He directed all personnel to channel media or public inquiries through the Public Information Office to prevent accidental disclosures.The CO also addressed discipline, encouraging troops to uphold standards at all times. He specifically warned against the use of opioids and self-medication, urging anyone with medical conditions to seek proper care. Furthermore, he reiterated the Battalion's social media policy, prohibiting the posting of any operational content.

Lt Col Komedjah concluded the durbar by addressing questions from the troops and assuring them of the leadership's commitment to their welfare and mental well-being. He commended the Battalion's volleyball team for winning the Sector West Tournament and proudly representing Ghana.
