CO UNIFIL GHANBATT 92 Inducted into Office.

The Commanding Officer (CO) for the Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT 92) serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Evans Yaw Mensah Komedjah has formally been inducted into command of the battalion on Sunday, 12 October 2025.The service, held weeks after he assumed operational responsibilities, served as both a religious dedication and a military tradition to mark the official start of his leadership tour.

Themed “Leadership as Stewardship: Our Call to Responsibility,” the ceremony focused on the solemn duties of command. In a sermon based on Matthew 25:14-30, the Chaplain, Reverend Captain Christian Kodzo Meteku, reminded leaders that they are entrusted by a higher authority and must be accountable for their stewardship. He urged all personnel to remain supportive of the new Commanding Officer.Echoing this sentiment, the Imam, Captain Ibrahim Mohammed, drew from Quran Chapter 2:247-249. He advised the battalion's leaders to be knowledgeable and responsible, while encouraging troops to have faith in Lt Col Komedjah’s leadership.Following the religious blessings, Lt Col Komedjah partook in a military tradition, swearing an oath of allegiance as the troops pledged their loyalty to his command for the duration of their tour.In his remarks, the CO expressed gratitude to God and his troops for their support and commitment to duty. He pledged to lead with fairness and firmness, calling for collective effort and continued support from his Battalion.

The Guest of Honour for the ceremony, the Ghanaian Contingent Commander and Chief of the Joint Operations Centre at the UNFIL headquarters, Colonel Michael Kwame Afreh Mfum, charged Lt Col Komedjah to consistently seek divine guidance and be guided by the principles of integrity, compassion and fairness.
