The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, accompanied by Principal Staff Officers at Army Headquarters, received a detailed briefing from Commanding Officers (COs) of the recently concluded Peace Support Operations (PSO) on Thursday, 27 August 2025, at the Army Headquarters Hall of Generals.
The briefing featured presentations from the Commanding Officers of various missions: Brigadier General Nicodemus Larbi Simpong of UNISFA GHANMED 3 Level 2 Plus Hospital, Abyei, Colonel Gabriel Mawuli Agboado of ESSMGB GHANCOY 3, Guinea Bissau, Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Puoriyelle Dery of ECOMIG GHANCOY 8, Gambia, and Lieutenant Colonel Baffour Antwi Sarpong of UNISFA GHANBATT 3, Abyei.
Their reports covered key areas including pre-deployment preparations, political and security situations, operational, administrative, and logistical matters.
Other areas covered were achievements, challenges, and recommendations. The comprehensive briefing aimed to update the COAS and his Principal Staff Officers on the responsibilities and activities carried out during their tours of duty.
In his remarks, the COAS warmly welcomed the officers back and congratulated them on their thorough presentations. He praised their leadership in upholding Ghana’s reputation and commended their effective handling of operational challenges.
He cautioned them to remain vigilant and mindful in their future assignments.
Major General Gbetanu assured the officers that all challenges and recommendations had been duly noted by the Military High Command, with necessary measures underway.
He extended his gratitude for their successful tours of duty and wished them the very best in their future endeavors.
In recognition of their dedication and commitment, the COAS presented each Commanding Officer with a Citation as a token of honor.
