COAS Visits Forward Operating Bases in Volta and Oti Regions

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, together with an entourage from the Army Headquarters, has undertaken a two-day operational visit to the 16 Artillery Brigade’s Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in the Volta and Oti Regions from Tuesday, 30 September to Wednesday, 1 October 2025.The visit was aimed at assessing the operational readiness, welfare, and morale of troops stationed at the various FOBs, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of ongoing security operations in both regions.During the visit, commanders of the respective FOBs provided the COAS with detailed briefings on the prevailing security situation and the challenges encountered. Major General Gbetanu commended the troops for their high sense of professionalism and dedication over the period. He also urged them to maintain high morale despite the demanding nature of their deployment.As part of the tour, the COAS and his entourage paid a courtesy call on the Oti Regional Minister, Hon. John Kwadwo Gyapong, in Dambai, where he later held a closed-door meeting with the Regional Security Council (REGSEC).In addition, Major General Gbetanu called on the District Chief Executive of Biakoye District, Hon Eric Oppong and Municipal Chief Executive of Nkwanta Municipality, Hon Joseph Antwi. He also paid a courtesy call on Daasebre Atamafowiese Bonjah II, Overlord of Chonke.
