The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, paid a working visit to the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) on Wednesday 24 September 2025.
The visit was aimed at engaging participants of Course 2-2025. During the interaction, Major General Gbetanu delivered a lecture on Land Dimension, where he outlined his vision for the Ghana Army, ‘ To maintain a motivated Army grounded on core military values, enabled by adaptive technologies and platforms capable of projecting decisive land power as part of the Ghana Armed Forces’.
He reaffirmed his commitment to building a cohesive, motivated, and professional force capable of countering emerging security challenges, including terrorism.
The COAS also elaborated the Army’s strategic priorities in the areas of training, administration, welfare, and operational readiness; all geared toward strengthening Ghana’s territorial integrity and overall defence posture.
He further highlighted the impact of the Army’s operations and underscored its critical role in the implementation of the National Security Strategy.

The Ghana Army, is Ghana’s Land Warfare Component tracing its origins from the Gold Coast Constabulary Regiment (GCCR) in the then British Empire, evolving through the years to become the present-day Professional Ghana Army.
