Commander ASOB Visits 69 Airborne Force and Army Special Operations Training School

        

The Commander, Army Special Operations Brigade, Brigadier General Richard Mensah, paid Operational visits to the 69 Airborne Force in Tamale and the Army Special Operations Training School (ASOTS) in Daboya as part of efforts to familiarise himself with the operations, capabilities and challenges of the Units under his command.

The visit formed part of his maiden tour of Units within the Special Operations Brigade following his recent assumption of command. Brigadier General Mensah was received by the outgoing Commanding Officer (CO) 69 Airborne Force, Colonel Louis Boakye at the Bawa Barracks on Wednesday 28 May 2025. On Thursday 29 May 2025, he visited the Army Special Operations Training School in Daboya, where he was received by the CO, Lieutenant Colonel Ernest Darkwah.

During the visit, the Brigade Commander was given a comprehensive briefing on the operational structure, training programmes, administrative and logistical needs of the Units. The presentation highlighted the unit’s contribution to internal security operations and its rapid response capabilities in support of national defence especially amid the ongoing threat of terrorism and chieftaincy disputes in the area of interest.

As part of his itinerary, Brig Gen Mensah paid a courtesy call on the outgoing General Officer Commanding Northern Command Brig Gen Frank Nartey Tei. He also inspected key installations and facilities in the Unit including the Medical Reception Station (MRS), mechanical transport yard, and accommodation blocks.

He also interacted with troops and commended them for their professionalism, dedication, and readiness to respond to emerging security threats.

The Brigade Commander was accompanied by the Chief Logistics Officer, Colonel Andrew Awuni and the Chief Training Officer, Colonel Michael Mintah-Agyemang.
