Commander Rear 11 Mechanised Battalion Visits Sherigu

The Commander Rear 11 Mechanised Battalion, Lt Col Kakra Sasu-Antwi on Thursday 10 April 2025 paid a visit to Sherigu in the Bolga Municipality, Upper East Region.

The purpose of the visit was to inspect the Unit’s ongoing accommodation project located at Sherigu. The unit accommodation is being constructed on 40 acres of land donated by the Chief of the Sherigu Traditional Council, Naba Thomas Aluman Apasinaba II to support military operations.

Lt Col Sasu-Antwi expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project and urged contractors to work assiduously in order to ensure the timely completion of the project. As part of the visit, Lt Col Sasu-Antwi paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Sherigu.

During the meeting he mentioned that, his predecessor informed him of the Chief’s noble gesture in granting the Unit the land to construct accommodation for its personnel. He expressed his utmost gratitude to the Chief, the Traditional Council and the entire Community for their generosity. He also expressed his expectation that the synergy between the Unit and the Sherigu community would foster mutual growth and national security.

The visit culminated in a signing of certificate of honour between the Commander Rear and the Chief of Sherigu Traditional Council to cover the land. In adherence to the local customs and tradition, the Commander Rear presented a symbolic offering of cola nuts as a mark of goodwill and appreciation to the Chief for his kind gesture.
