A six-member delegation from the Defence Advisors/Attachés Association of Ghana, led by the Dean of the Association, Brigadier General Mwendaofyo from Zambia, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu at the Army Headquarters in Burma Camp on Wednesday, 27 August 2025.
The delegation, which included Defence Attachés from South Africa, France, China, Russia, and European Union, came to officially extend their congratulations and goodwill to the COAS, following his appointment and assumption of office.
Brig Gen Mwendaofyo expressed the association’s profound gratitude for the honour shown to them and highlighted their shared values with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in promoting peace, security, stability, and prosperity.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to strengthening multilateral relations and thanked the Military High Command for its support.
He also recounted the association’s previous participation in the 2024 Land Combat Power Demonstration and shared plans for future activities, including visits to the Tema Port and the Jungle Warfare School, as well as the hosting of their inaugural Gala night in October. Brig Gen Mwendaofyo expressed confidence in continued collaboration towards their shared goals.
In response, the COAS warmly welcomed the delegation, acknowledging their goodwill and the strong working relationship between the Defence Attachés and the Ghana Armed Forces.
He emphasized the association’s vital role as a platform for cooperation in operations, training, and administration, and assured of support from the Ghana Army.
Highlighting the upcoming Land Combat Power Demonstration, the COAS invited members of the association to attend and provide feedback to help refine the Army’s doctrine.
He also acknowledged the valuable bilateral relationships between the Ghana Armed Forces and each country represented.
The COAS pledged his commitment to maintaining and strengthening collaboration with the Defence Attachés Association, noting his previous meetings with some representatives and looking forward to deeper engagement.
As a token of appreciation, the COAS presented each DA with a customised Ghana Army plaque. In return, Brig Gen Mwendaofyo presented the COAS with a commemorative plaque symbolizing their shared aspirations for peace and security.
