A delegation from the Defence Press Corps , led by the Dean, Mr Joseph Armstrong Gold-Alorgbey, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, at the Army Headquarters on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.
The visit aimed to familiarize the delegation with the COAS and to strengthen the existing relationship between the Ghana Army and the media.
Major General Gbetanu, in his welcome remarks, expressed appreciation to the team for their visit. He commended the media for their contributions to national development and urged journalists to maintain discipline and adhere to instructions in the discharge of their duties.
The COAS further emphasized the importance of media coverage in projecting the activities of the Ghana Army, noting that such publicity helps promote transparency and informs both local and international audiences about the Army’s role in national security.
In his address, Mr Gold-Alorgbey introduced his team and highlighted some security challenges faced by media personnel, particularly in interactions with civilians and military personnel during field assignments. He appealed for the Army’s support in ensuring the safety and cooperation of journalists, adding that enhanced collaboration would promote professionalism and mutual understanding between the two institutions. As a gesture of appreciation, Mr. Gold-Alorgbey presented a citation to the Chief of the Army Staff on behalf of the Defence Press Corps.
