On Saturday, 25 October 2025, Lance Corporal Arthur Ishmael of the Ghana Army outpaced 800 competitors from all 16 regions of Ghana to claim victory at the prestigious Akoma Ashanti Marathon.
The half marathon, proudly sponsored by Akoma FM, was held in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and featured some of Ghana’s finest distance runners. None, however, could match the endurance and speed of Lance Corporal Arthur, who crossed the finish line in an impressive 1 hour and 5 minutes over the 21.1 km course.
For his outstanding performance, he received a gold medal, a commemorative plaque, and a cash prize of GHC 5,000. The award was presented by the CEO of Akoma FM during a ceremony that celebrated both excellence and sportsmanship.
Lance Corporal Arthur Ishmael was also named an Ambassador of the Akoma Ashanti Marathon, symbolizing endurance, discipline, and national pride: qualities that embody the spirit of the Ghana Army and the nation.
