Ghana Army Demonstrates Strength at 2025 Land Combat Power Demonstration

The Ghana Army showcased its strength, tactical excellence, and operational capabilities during the 2025 edition of the Land Combat Power Demonstration, held at the Battle Training Camp, Bundase. The exercise aimed to provide students of Senior Command and Staff Course 47 of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), with practical insight into the utilization of assets available to battle groups as part of a Joint Task Force, and their employment within the operational framework of deep, close, and rear operations.                                                                                                                                         Held on Friday, 31st October 2025, the demonstration was led by the 1st Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Army, supported by elements of the 2nd and 5th Infantry Battalions, the 66 Artillery Regiment, the 153 Armoured Regiment, the 48 Engineer Regiment, the 81 Signal Regiment, and the Ghana Army Special Operations Brigade. The Ghana Air Force and Ghana Navy also provided crucial support to complete the joint operational construct. The Ghana Armed Forces Medical Corps participated actively in the exercise, demonstrating effective battlefield casualty management and medical evacuation procedures and showcasing their vital role in sustaining combat effectiveness and saving lives under fire. The Guest of Honour, Honourable Ernest Brogya Genfi, Deputy Minister for Defence, representing the Acting Minister for Defence, Honourable Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, commended all participating Units for their excellent planning, organization, and execution of the event. He noted that the exercise remains one of the most significant and symbolic training activities on the Ghana Armed Forces calendar: a vivid display of discipline, strategy, and coordination that embodies the highest standards of military excellence. Hon Brogya Genfi further emphasized that the demonstration would equip students of Course 47 with strategic insight, operational competence, and an unyielding spirit of service to the nation, effectively bridging the gap between theory and practice. The General Officer Commanding Southern Command (GOC S/COMD), Brigadier General Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, explained that the exercise would enhance the students’ understanding of the integration and employment of fire support assets within a battle group’s operational framework. He added that the 2025 Land Combat Power Demonstration also provided a valuable platform for cross-learning, professional exchange, and capability development, all essential for grooming the next generation of operational commanders. In attendance were the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, the Acting Commandant of GAFCSC, Brigadier General Jackson Wonje, the Executive Secretary of the Veterans Administration, Ghana, Brigadier General Seidu Adams (Rtd) and other distinguished guests.
