Ghana Army Launches Pre-Senior Command and Staff Course 47 Cadre

The Deputy Chief Staff Officer, Operations and Training (DCSO Ops & Trg) at Army Headquarters, Brigadier General William Kwabiah, has officially opened the Pre-Senior Command and Staff Course 47 Cadre at the Defence Mechanical Transport Battalion's Dohazari Hall, Burma Camp, on Monday, 25 August 2025.

This intensive two-week course, involving 41 students drawn from various Ghana Army units, aims to prepare prospective senior officers by introducing them to essential service writing, operational staff work, and planning tools.

It serves as a foundational program ahead of the Senior Command and Staff Course 47 (SCSC 47) at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) in Teshie.

In his opening address, Brig Gen Kwabiah welcomed the participants and commended the efforts of the directing staff for consistently preparing army officers to excel in the course. He highlighted the positive impact of previous courses, noting that the recently concluded SCSC 46 saw some of the best-performing students emerging from the Ghana Army.

He emphasized the importance of the course as a stepping stone for future leaders and key staff officers. Brig Gen Kwabiah pointed out that the course report plays a vital role in career progression and is a critical consideration when officers seek further training at institutions such as the War College.

Urging the students to approach the course with dedication and strive for excellence, he reminded them that the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, takes a keen interest in the program and expects them to fully embrace its objectives.

Brig Gen Kwabiah expressed gratitude to the directing staff for their commitment and readiness to support the students. He encouraged the students to actively exchange knowledge and experiences during this brief yet valuable cadre and wished them success in their studies.
