Twenty-four senior Ghana Army officers, comprising 19 males and 5 females, have successfully completed the Battalion Commanders' Course (BCC) 4. The 10-week intensive training program, conducted by the Army Combat Training School (ACTS) under the supervision of the Army Training Command (ATRAC), aimed to enhance the leadership and command skills of the officers. The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, 13 December 2024, at the Buchanan Hall, ATRAC Headquarters in Teshie, was graced by the Chief Staff Officer (CSO), at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Atogebakoga Alobawone who represented the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, as the Guest of Honour. In a speech, read on his behalf by the CSO, Maj Gen Bismarck Kwasi Onwona emphasized that our nation faces diverse and complex challenges in the ever-evolving landscape of the modern world. He therefore charged participants that their role as leaders required adaptability, resilience, and unwavering commitment to tackle the numerous issues confronting us. Again, he expressed the belief that the course had broadened their horizons and equipped them to effectively address these challenges, urging them to apply the lessons learnt as they return to their units. The graduating officers, drawn from various units of the Ghana Army, underwent a comprehensive training program covering unit administration, multi-domain operations, geopolitics, and counterterrorism. Participants also embarked on a study tour of Ghana's Western Region. The tour aimed to provide participants with hands-on experience in addressing real-world security threats and appreciating the roles of various security agencies in combating these threats.
Awards were presented to outstanding participants. Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Michael Naah emerged as the overall best in the order of merit, while Lt Col Joshua Adongo and Lt Col Eric Sefa Boye placed second and third, respectively.
