Ghana Army shows gratitude to God

The Ghana Army has held an end-of-year religious parade dubbed, "Guided by His Hand: Acknowledging God's Faithfulness”, at the Arakan Methodist Presbyterian Church on Friday, 10 January 2025.

The purpose of the religious parade was to express gratitude to the Almighty God for His guidance throughout the year 2024.

Delivering the exhortation from Quran chapter 26:70-85, Imam Major Shamsudeen Salifu attested that the God of Abraham is a God of season, hence the need to understand changes in time and seasons. Consequently, he encouraged all to appreciate God for His provisions over the years and advised that as season comes and goes, one must reaffirm, commit and dedicate their lives to Him as they look forward to the years ahead.

Preaching on the title, “Sacrifice of Praise, the fruit of our lips”, the Director Army Religious Affairs (DARA), Reverend Colonel Peter Nyarko Doudu stressed the need to offer praises to God in all circumstances. Placing emphasis on Psalm 150:1-6, 1 Samuel 7:10-14 and Hebrews 13:14-16, which narrate how God appreciates our gratefulness when we praise him, he entreated all to be grateful to God for His continuous provision of strength, guidance and protection throughout the past year.

He further prayed for the Lord's continuous blessings for the Ghana Army as they engage in sacrifice of praises to God in all situations.

The Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona in his remarks said it was an honour to glorify and worship God together as they reflect on the theme for the occasion which serves as a powerful reminder on God's divine guidance and steadfastness throughout the past year.

He attributed the Army’s successes in the conduct of internal operations and peacekeeping missions to God’s continuous provision of wisdom and strength to navigate every situation both in operations and administration.

Establishing the fact that the past year had taught the Army some valuable lessons about resilience, teamwork, and the importance of staying true to their values, he charged all to carry forward the lessons learnt and continue to be guided by God's hand as they put their trust in Him.

The COAS further admonished all to remain vigilant in their duties, compassionate in their interactions, and unwavering in their commitment to serving their fellow soldiers and the nation. He concluded by urging all to remember the importance of unity and service, stressing that it is their call as members of the Armed Forces, to serve the nation with honour and integrity.

He also thanked everyone for their dedication, service, and unwavering faith and prayed for God’s guidance throughout the new year.
