GHANA ARMY TEAMS KICK OFF THE SUPER VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025

The Ghana Army volleyball teams, both female and male, have officially begun their campaign in the 4th edition of the Super Volleyball Championships 2025.The opening matches took place at the multi-purpose hall of the Borteyman Sports Complex on Sunday, 16 November 2025.The Guest of Honour, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Honourable Kofi Iddie Adams, underscored the importance of sports—particularly volleyball—in educational institutions and its growing prominence in national and continental competitions.Representing the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, the Deputy Chief Staff Officer for Operations and Training at Army Headquarters, Brigadier General William Archibold Kwabiah, expressed gratitude to the Ghana Volleyball Federation for extending the invitation. He also commended the teams from the Republic of Benin and the Federal Republic of Nigeria for joining the championship.He further encouraged all participating teams to demonstrate the hard work, commitment, and passion required for the competition. He urged players to exhibit outstanding skills and uphold the spirit of good sportsmanship, regardless of the outcomes.In the inter-service matches, the Army women’s volleyball team secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Air Force women’s team, while the Air Force men’s team claimed a decisive 3-0 win against the Army men’s team.Honourable Kofi Iddie Adams presented plaques to all participating teams, notably the Ghana Army and Ghana Air Force, in recognition of their dedication and full participation in the Super Volleyball Championships 2025.The event was attended by the Chief G7 at Army Headquarters, Colonel Gabriel Mawuli Agboado, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Krotos, Mr Mohammed Aputeog.
