The Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT 92) serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) facilitated a key segment of the Office of Peacekeeping Strategic Partnerships (OPSP) delegation’s visit to UNIFIL’s Sector West Area of Operations, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence and partnership within the mission.
The high-level delegation, led by Under Secretary General from the Office of the Special Coordinator Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OSC SEA), Mr Christian Saunders, comprised senior UN officials and strategic planners. The delegation’s visit to UNIFIL from 10 to 19 November 2025 was aimed at assessing peacekeeping operations and strengthening collaborations.
As part of the mission, GHANBATT played a central role on Wednesday 12 November, providing access and security for field visits to some key GHANBATT positions.
The delegation was welcomed by the Commanding Officer, Lt Col Evans Yaw Mensah Komedjah at the Battalion Headquarters in Al Qawzah where he briefed them, offering insights into the terrain, security dynamics, and ongoing efforts to maintain stability along the Blue Line.
The briefing also highlighted GHANBATT’s proactive measures in monitoring developments and supporting UNIFIL’s mandate under UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
The visit underscored GHANBATT’s professionalism and readiness, as the Battalion ensured seamless coordination with Sector West Headquarters and other contingents.
