The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) has presented 20 laptops and their accessories to the Army Recruit Training School (ARTS) at Shai Hills on Tuesday, 15 April 2025.
The donation, valued at Gh¢139,980, is intended to significantly enhance the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as the world increasingly embraces the Information Technology (IT) era.
In his address, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIFEC, Dr. Sofo Tanko Rashid Computer, emphasized that the initiative was part of GIFEC's commitment to "bridging the digital divide across the country." He encouraged the leadership of the Army Recruit Training School to maintain the computers diligently, ensuring they fulfill their intended purpose of increasing access to ICT throughout the nation.
Additionally, Mr. Rashid announced plans for GIFEC to provide desktop computers to ARTS in the months ahead, further supporting the school’s mission in training recruits.
The Commanding Officer, ARTS, Lieutenant Colonel Ambitious Nazar, lauded GIFEC for the support which he said could not have come at a better time.
He was particularly happy that the items would go a long way to enhance the current drift to virtual lessons in the training school.
He pledged the school’s readiness to adopt a prudent maintenance culture for the computers to ensure that they last longer to serve many more recruits and members of the various faculties in the school.
