GOC Northern Command Visits Troops at Chereponi

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Worlanyo Agbebo has paid an operational visit to 11 Mechanized Battalion troops deployed in Chereponi on Wednesday 8 October 2025. The visit was to evaluate the operational readiness, welfare and morale of troops deployed in the area. During his interaction with the troops, the GOC commended them for their dedication towards work and admonished them to maintain high morale despite the challenging nature of their deployment and resource constraint.

Brig Gen Agbebo also charged troops to uphold professionalism and remain committed to their duties, highlighting the importance of personal hygiene and care of equipment.

He urged them to handle their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) well and desist from any form of recruitment fraud.

The GOC emphasized the security situation in the Northern Sector and the terrorist threats from the Sahel Region towards the North, hence the need to adopt the “See something Say something” initiative by being vigilant and proactive in identifying potential threats.

He also urged troops to raise public awareness and encourage the community to report any sign of suspicious activities within the communities along the border.

The GOC inspected the troops accommodation area and advised them to keep the surroundings clean and practise personal hygiene at all times.
