Headquarters Southern Command has commenced Basic Fitness Test (BFT) for eligible candidates of the 2025 Officers Promotion Examination (PROMEX) in the Command's Area of Responsibility (AOR) on Tuesday 1 April 2025, at the Command Headquarters, Kpeshie Ridge, Accra.
The four-day event which runs from Tuesday 1 April to Friday 4 April, is to conduct a physical fitness assessment of officers in 1, 2, 5, and 7 Garrisons as part of the basic requirement for officers’ promotion and career progression.
Candidates are expected to participate in three physical training disciplines, including Push Ups, Sit Ups and a 3.2km run or a 4km alternative aerobic event for those who are excused from running. Each individual candidate is expected to attain a certain number of repetitions in the push ups and sit ups disciplines as well as complete the 3.2km run in a stipulated time according to gender and age.
Candidates are grouped in two categories of Level B and Level A, with level B candidates being officers in Captain rank seeking progression to Major, and level A candidates being officers in the Lieutenant rank seeking progression to Captain. Practical and written examinations will be conducted later to complete the final score for the 2025 PROMEX.
The exercise is under the keen supervision of the General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Brig Gen Samuel Yeboah Asare, The Command Logistics Officer, Col Franklin Gyamerah-Amoako and the Deputy Command Operations Officer, Lt Col Prince Owusu, along with physical training instructors from 5 Garrison and General Headquarters Training.
