The 4 Infantry Battalion (4BN) of the Ghana Army held a handing-over ceremony on Friday, 16 May 2025, as Lieutenant Colonel Sarfo Kantanka Dapaah officially handed over command to Lieutenant Colonel Jenuni Emmanuel Wumbeidow. The occasion marked the end of Lt Col Dapaah’s impactful leadership and the beginning of a new chapter for the Battalion.
In his farewell speech, Lt Col Dapaah reflected on his time in command with a deep sense of pride and gratitude. He thanked God, his family, and his colleagues for their unwavering support and commended the troops for their resilience, professionalism, and dedication. He also highlighted the successful implementation of several welfare and morale-boosting projects under his leadership, emphasizing his belief that “a happy and content soldier is a more effective soldier.”
He encouraged the unit to continue upholding its values and expressed confidence in the leadership of his successor, Lt Col JE Wumbeidow, stating, “I am confident that our Unit would continue to progress under the new leadership.”
The change of command was sealed with the signing of official documents and the handing-over of the Unit flag. The ceremony was observed by the Outgoing and Incoming General Officers Commanding Central Command, Brigadier General Michael Kwadwo Opoku and Brigadier General Albert Ogaja respectively.
