As part of an official tour to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) from 19 to 26 October 2025, the Military and Police Advisors’ Community (MPAC) delegation visited GHANBATT Headquarters UNP 5-66 and Bravo Company UNP 5-42 on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.
Led by Maj Gen Jürgen Martin Ortner of Austria, the 17-member delegation was warmly received at GHANBATT Headquarters by the Commanding Officer Lt Col Evans Yaw Mensah Komedjah who gave a comprehensive operational briefing, highlighting the Battalion’s contributions to peacekeeping efforts, community engagement, and coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).
The delegation was also given a terrain-based situational overview, emphasizing the strategic importance of the position.
The CO outlined GHANBATT’s operational readiness and the challenges faced in maintaining peace and stability in the area of operations.
The visit provided MPAC members with valuable insights into the day-to-day realities of peacekeeping on the ground and reinforced the importance of international collaboration in maintaining regional security.
