NADMO Northern Regional Director Visits 51 Engineer Regiment in Tamale

The Northern Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Alhaji Haruna Malba paid a courtesy call on the 51 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Army in Tamale on Thursday 21 August 2025. The visit was the first of its kind to the Regiment since its formation in August 2024. The Director, accompanied by his staff were received and briefed by the Commanding Officer of the 51 Engineer Regiment, Lt Col EK Poku.

In his remarks, the Regional Director expressed a great sign of relief and hope with the establishment of an Engineer Regiment in the Northern part of Ghana and expressed his appreciation to Government and the Military High Command for such bold and decisive step.

He intimated that, the Regiment would greatly impact the support received by NADMO during unforeseen disasters and emergencies. He further  acknowledged the inter-agency collaboration that the Regiment would foster, impacting on training and general disaster preparedness.

The Commanding Officer of the Unit welcomed the Regional Director and updated him on the Unit’s establishment and activities. The CO assured the Regional Director of close collaboration and support with the arrival of the Unit in the Northern Part of the Country. He further indicated that the Regiment would also provide the same support to other Regions within the Area of Responsibility of the Northern Command of the Ghana Army.

As first responders, the CO remarked that, the Unit would soon provide the necessary disaster support in accordance with the Regional Disaster Management Plan to ensure that adverse events are mitigated and impact on the population reduced. The NADMO staff in their interactions expressed a high level of interest in working closely with the Regiment in areas of Risk Assessment, Data Collection as well as Monitoring and Training.
