The Paramount Chief of the Nungua Traditional Area and President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Oboade Notse King Professor Odaifio Welentsi III, together with his royal entourage, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, on Thursday, 13 November 2025, at the Army Headquarters. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between traditional leadership and the military in advancing peace and development.
During the visit, Oboade Notse King Prof Odaifio Welentsi III indicated that the engagement marked an official introduction following his mandate to oversee the affairs of the Greater Accra Region, which hosts the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Headquarters.
He emphasized that the meeting was a platform for mutual engagement and the exploration of potential areas for sustained collaboration on matters of common concern.
The Paramount Chief expressed his appreciation to the Army High Command for the warm reception, commending the military’s discipline and commitment to maintaining peace and stability within the region.
He further pledged the continuous support of the Nungua Traditional Council to strengthen the cordial relationship between the traditional authority and the GAF. He also wished the Army continued strength in its vital role as the backbone of national security.
In his remarks, Major General Gbetanu conveyed his profound gratitude to the Paramount Chief and his delegation for the visit, describing it as both timely and significant in enhancing collaboration.
He assured them of the Ghana Army’s unwavering support and emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation to promote peace and security across the Greater Accra Region and Ghana at large.
To commemorate the occasion, the Chief of the Army Staff presented Oboade Notse King Prof Odaifio Welentsi III with a customised Ghana Army plaque in recognition of his visit and commitment to strengthening ties with the Ghana Armed Forces.
