Stakeholders of GAF Provident Fund Meet COAS to Strengthen Partnership

The stakeholders of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Provident Fund, led by the new Managing Director of Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) Ghana, Mr Edward Ato Sarpong called on the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, on Thursday, 24 April 2025, at the Army Headquarters.

 

Mr Sarpong explained that the visit was a courtesy call to congratulate the COAS on his appointment and expressed gratitude for the warm reception. He emphasized that the GAF Provident Fund is one of ADB’s valued accounts and praised the excellent relationship between the bank and the Armed Forces which has been outstanding over the years. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the COAS, they would collaboratively address key issues concerning the fund and assured of continued support to enhance the management and benefits of the fund for GAF personnel.

 

In response, the COAS welcomed the team, congratulated Mr Sarpong on his new role, and commended ADB Ghana for its corporate social responsibility initiatives, from which the GAF has benefited. He highlighted the strategic importance of the Provident Fund as an investment in the welfare of GAF personnel and urged the stakeholders to maintain credibility and manage the fund effectively for the maximum benefit of the troops. He further assured of more engagements to discuss matters of mutual benefits to both parties.

 

Also present at the meeting were Director - General Legal Services, Brigadier General Charles Gbekle, Director Resettlement, Colonel Joseph Kobla Buame and some Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters.
