The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), through the Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT 92), successfully concluded a five-day coordinated training exercise with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) aimed at strengthening interoperability and operational effectiveness.
The exercise, conducted from Monday 10 to Friday 14 November 2025, in Chawakeer, focused on foot patrol operations in built-up areas, in accordance with UNIFIL Standard Operating Procedures.
Training activities included theoretical sessions and practical drills on stack formations, room entry techniques, and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). Subject Matter Experts from UNIFIL provided specialized guidance throughout the program.
The initiative forms part of the Coordinated Training Activities with LAF (COTAWL), in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which mandates close cooperation between UNIFIL and LAF to maintain stability and security in southern Lebanon.
The exercise concluded with a combined drill to assess the effectiveness of the training, followed by a closing ceremony where certificates of appreciation were presented to participants. UNIFIL officials reaffirmed that such joint activities are essential for building mutual trust and ensuring readiness for operational challenges.
